After an acute phase of COVID-19, according to WHO data, around 20% of patients experience symptoms that persist beyond one month. These symptoms are highly variable and may be associated with fatigue, respiratory problems, concentration difficulties, loss of smell and/or taste, chronic diarrhoea, etc.
According to the scientific literature, there are over 200 persistent symptoms or delayed complications(WHO).
These symptoms fluctuate and can recur over time, sometimes making it difficult and time-consuming to diagnose and manage them. They are more or less intense and can impair daily quality of life. This long-lasting form of covid 19 is not contagious, but its duration is variable and difficult to predict.
Although the majority of people with long-standing Covid have been hospitalized, prolonged Covid-19 symptoms can also occur in people with milder forms of the disease. The long Covid is therefore not necessarily linked to the severity of the initial acute illness. Often, several symptoms are associated.
